MEMBERS of Sleaford Gymnastics Club have been busy with two competitions recently.
Four club members - Jasmin Brankin, Katherine Williamson, Sophie Fell and Emma Reid – took part in the county floor and vault championships regional trials.

The event attracted 120 competitors from all over Lincolnshire and the Sleaford team took the overall title.
Emma did especially well, finishing second and qualifying to represent Lincolnshire in the finals.

Katherine also greatly impressed the judges, taking home the gold medal in her age group and also walking away with the county floor and vault title.

Another four Sleaford gymnasts - Kiesha Almond, Abigail Salt, Katie Dodds and Phoebe Towers – competed in the national club grade 8 trials.

This was a tough competition, with leading gymnasts from all over the region. The Sleaford contingent were the only girls from Lincolnshire taking part at this level and had to compete against six other clubs.

All four managed to pass their grading on the apparatus event, which consisted of vault, bars, beam and floor, and all but one passed on range and conditioning, an exercise that consists of strength, mobility and control.

*Sleaford Gymnastics Club is starting a new pre-school class for children aged 12 months upwards on Tuesday, April 20, from 9.30am to 10.15am.

This class is for adults and toddlers and will consist of various gymnastics activities on the apparatus as well as floor skills.

Club coach Sammi Harris said: "If there are sufficient numbers, we will be increasing sessions which we can hold on most days and times to suit as long as we have the numbers."
