Sleaford Town 2 Holbeach Town 4

TOWN slumped to their third consecutive defeat at the start of their second Premier League campaign in this evening game against Holbeach.

It was a disappointing performance but the result may have been differe
nt had Matt Lunn taken an early opportunity to head home five minutes into the game and Miles Hunter's effort had not been deflected wide moments later.

The game was a little more than 10 minutes old when Holbeach took the lead. It was an unfortunate goal for Sleaford to concede, keeper Lee Crockett attempted to clear a back pass but the ball slipped under his foot and a Holbeach forward was quick to seize on the mistake.

Although Town had chances to equalise, the score remained 1-0 to Hobeach going in at half time.

The visitors took control of the game after the interval, doubling their advantage in the 54th minute and then adding a third 14 minutes later from a powerful free kick outside the area which gave Crockett no chance.

Town boss Brian Rowland brought on Tom Siddons to replace Jon Machin and Pete Sutton for John Edwards.

Hunter, enjoying another fine game for Town, opened the Sleaford account 20 minutes from time, giving home supporters some hope of a possible comeback. But that was soon dashed when, two minutes later, Holbeach re-established their three goal advantage to make it 4-1.

In the final 10 minutes, Jamie Shaw came on to replace Oliver Sidney and the Town striker was there to stab the ball home for Town's second on the stroke of full time.

l On Saturday, Sleaford Town picked up their first point of the season away to Northampton Spencer. The game ended 2-2 but Town remain second from bottom in the Premier Division table after four matches.
