TWO teams from the Barge and Bottle Netball Club travelled to Long Eaton for an all-day tournament.
Hurricanes and Tornadoes were placed in different groups for the morning matches, with each team competing in five games.

Hurricanes fared better, winning three of their matches. They did lose to Plain Lazy ladies but by that time they had alread
y qualified to play in the top group for the afternoon session.

Tornadoes had a more difficult morning. Their team was made up of players from the club’s Tornadoes, Lightning and Jets teams and took a while to get into their stride.

They only won one match, against Grangeton 8-2, and drew against Chegwell.

This left them placed in the second group for the afternoon games.

Team changes were made in the afternoon which strengthened the Tornadoes’ team.

They took on Grangeton once more and beat them 13-0 and also defeated Chegwell 8-5 to finish third in their group.

Hurricanes came out in confident mood in the afternoon, with Hayley Pycock and Marie Welch in particularly fine form, showing great determination and excellent game reading skills.

The game against Moll Buzzards, which Hurricanes lost narrowly 8-7, proved decisive as Moll Buzzards went on to be overall winners, with the Sleaford outfit in second place.

l Barge and Bottle Netball Club start training on August 26 ready for their own tournament on September 7.
