Fine run from Oliver earns him the points

Sleaford Striders Athletics Club

MEMBERS of Sleaford Striders braved freezing temperatures at the weekend for the Rauceby Ripper event, a challenging 8.5mile multi terrain race organised by Sleaford Town Runners.

In all, 27 Striders runners took part, with the race setting off from within the grounds of Rauceby Hall.

With valuable points also up for grabs in this the first race of the Striders’ Adult Race Series, Alan Oliver produced a fine run to finish third overall in a time of 51 minutes 31 seconds.

Young Adam Runacres got his season off to a flyer as the second Strider home with a good time of 5.03, to finish 13th overall.

Graham Park, recovering from a series of winter niggles, finished in 59.08 to make it three Striders home in the top 20 runners and all under the hour mark.

Times for other Striders were: Dave Burton 60:31; Mark Hebden 62.15; Jane James 64.02 (First lady Strider to finish and second lady overall); Andy Preston (66.21); Vince McNiffe (67.51); Alan Buckberry 68.52; Adrian Twelvetrees 70.05; Eleanor Oxby 70.53; Garry Wilson 71.54; Simon Jackson 71.59; Maureen Runacres 73.19; Jim Millar 73:19; Ted Preston 75.57); Brenda Willson 77.09; Sue Hardy 77.48; Dawn Carter 85.25; Ann & Graham Riddell 85.51; Lisa McDonough 90.24; Karen Kane 90.24; Leanne McHugh 95.01; Alison Brown 95.01; Linda Melloy 95.08; Michelle Hird 95.08.
