Oliver leads the Striders home

Sleaford Striders

RUNNERS braved gale force winds and horizontal rain at the second running of the Tulip 10k, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, at Spalding.

The Sleaford Striders contingent were led home by Andy Preston, setting another personal best time of 43mins 11secs to finish 17th.

Second home for Striders was Simon Jackson, who came 31st place in 47:11, closely followed by Alan Buckberry, 34th place in 47:57.

Other Striders in the event were: Anna Thompson (51:11), Sasha Oliver (55.23); June Jackson (55.23); Sally Hollick (1:09:19); Kathy Radley (1:16:22); Lisa Ashcroft (1:16:22).

l A large contingent from Sleaford Striders took part in the GEAR 10k event at Kings Lynn, which attracted a field of 1,300 runners.

In ideal running conditions, Alan Oliver was first Strider home, finishing in 35th place with a time of 36:40.

Graham Park was next home, setting a personal best of 39:55.

Times for other Striders were: Dave Burton 40:31 (PB); Andy Preston 41:00 (PB 41:00); Simon Jackson 42:55 (PB); Jane James 43:03 (PB - first female 50+ vet); Andy Dickinson 44:44; Vince McNiffe 44:34 (PB); Alan Buckberry 46:37; Garry Wilson 48:07; Jim Millar 49:04; Bill Rayner 51:06: Ted Preston 52:24: Dawn Webb 52:26: Derek James 53:28; Graham Riddell 56.14; Ann Riddell 56:14 (PB); Sasha Oliver accompanied fellow Strider Tracy Dickinson to a PB time of 1:00:17.
