Southern and Taylor share race success
Sleaford Town Runners
AFTER a few quiet weeks, members of Sleaford Town Running Club have been back making their mark on the race calendar.
The Grunty Fen Half Marathon in Ely, Cambridgeshire is usually a good opportunity for runners to set personal best times but this year the surprisingly hot weather proved to be a hindrance to Gary Britnell (1 hour 57 minutes) and Lou Henderson (2:24), who were both outside their usual running times.
At the Ponton Plod participants could choose from three different distances. Three Town Runners took on the 17-mile race, with Greg Southern and Andy Taylor coming joint first in a time of 2:13, while Gary Britnell crossed the line in 2:27.
Five members of Sleaford Town Running Club took part in the BUPA Great North Run. Karl Brown completed the event in 2:03, followed by Claire Brown (2:24), Clare Bergner (2:40), Anita Lewin, who was injured (3:04) and Louise Mccauley also raced.
