Sleaford Town Runners

TEN members of the Sleaford Town Runners club took part in the Summer Solstice 10k at Long Bennington.

Following rural roads around a relatively flat course, it provided members with the opportunity to record some good times.

Greg Southern was the first of the Town Runners to finish, clocking a time of 35 minutes 16 seconds. He was followed by Andy Taylor (37:05), Simon England (38:38), Mark Holman (43:16), Gary Britnell (47:06), Ian Swinscoe (50:08) and Mike Folland (51:37).

First of the ladies to finish was Bethan Fray (51:52), followed by Debs Sutton (54:48) and Lou Henderson (57:28).

The Notfast 10k proved to be a hot and clammy race with a good hill at the 5km point. Five Town Runners took part and, once again, it was Greg Southern who led them home, finishing in 35:27.

Others taking part were: Michael Baxter (39:37), Stephen Brear (47:07), Barry Douce (52:00) and Caz Thomson (58:19).

* Sleaford Town Runners meet at Sleaford Rugby Club on Thursday nights and have started their summer routes, which take them out of town and into the countryside.

The club continues to enjoy an increase in new members and the ‘in- house’ challenge series is going well, with Ian Swinscoe leading overall and Lou Henderson in second place.

This month sees the return of the Predictor Challenge for club members on a Tuesday evening.

If you would like to know more about the club, visit the website at www.sleafordtownrunners.co.uk or pop along on a Thursday evening.
