Town have runners at Caythorpe marathon

Sleaford Town Runners have started the year off well.

February started with members running The Caythorpe Dash.

Due to the weather conditions the course became a bog of muddy fields and was tough on the legs for those competing resulting in it being a great achievement for them when they reached the finish line.

Runningfor Sleaford Town Runners were Michael Baxter (1hr43), Ray Quelch (1hr51) and Chris Balfe (1hr54).

The Brass Monkey 10km race in Corby proved to be another race ran in cold, wet and windy conditions.

However, six club members braved the weather to run the four lap course at Rockingham Raceway.

Andy Taylor led the way, completing his laps in 35.35, followed by Karl Brown (46.30), Lou McCauley (60.34), Shaun Louth (64.46), Jess Bergner (64.56) and Clare Bergner (69.15).

Members of the club are training towards places in the London Marathon and BUPA Great North Run.

In addition to running other members are taking on new challenges of obstacle courses, triathlons and other events to provide motivation for their team mates.

Sleaford Town Runners meet on Thursday evenings 7pm at the Sleaford Rugby Club.
