The juniors represented their own schools and encouraged others who were experiencing the sport for the first time. The event took place at Billinghay Primary School.

Not being old enough to take part in the event at Billinghay didn’t stop Jess (pictured) from impressing all with her first ever open water swim. This budding nine-year-old triathlete has already competed at junior triathlon and duathlons this season.

Amongst the adults competing in events last weekend were Jonathan Pickard at the Pitsford Triathlon, Gav Meadows at the Rugby half marathon and Paul Duncan who completed Ironman UK in Bolton.

Last Monday, Tri3 Sleaford organised and ran its third Aquathon from Sleaford Leisure Centre.

Eighteen adults competed in the event, with a 400m swim followed by a 5km run – a change to the 5k route meant the runners had to make their way up past the football club and power station before heading back to the leisure centre, making a loop of the riverbank (in front of Cogglesford Mill) and finishing with a sprint over the bridge.

In addition, 15 juniors aged eight and above competed at shorter distances, based on their age, with some fantastic results.

s well as participating, many of the club members have acted as marshals over the three events to keep swimmers and runners on the right track. Club coach David Foster kept the all-important timings.

The club will be hosting other events in the future. Check out the club’s Facebook page: Tri3 Sleaford Triathlon Club
