Fourteen teams contest triples

Eslaforde Park Bowls Club

AWAY to Leadenham in the Lincoln League, Eslaforde Park recorded a good result, winning on two rinks and on aggregate to pick up 11 points.

For Eslaforde, B Overton, T Bathard and J Curtis lost 18–21; B Bowyer, G Hilton and P Armstrong won 28–16; G Revell, M Rushby and G Pask won 28–18; M Gay, K Thompson and M Dunne drew 16–16.

They gained more valuable points in the Sleaford League at home to Legion, winning on three of the four rinks. M Gay, B Cooper and J Curtis won 20–9; C Belcher, H Spencer and G Hubbard won 26–12; R Pask, B Overton and J Dawson lost 10–27; K Thompson, T Thackray and S Cobb won 28–10.

A rearranged game against Washingborough in the ASC Metals League produced only one rink win for Eslaforde Park who went down on aggregate. B Overton, M Dunne and P Armstrong lost 9–19; K Thompson, J Curtis and G Pask won 23–8; R Pask, J Bennett and J Dawson lost 11–32.

Two days later Washingborough were again the opponents, this time at their green, butt he outcome was the same, with Eslaforde winning on only one rink. B Overton, B Cooper and Mike Rushby won 18–17; K Thompson, Margaret Rushby and P Armstrong lost 2–32; and R Pask, T Thackray and M Dunne lost 6–28.

ON Saturday the annual Betty Knight Triples competition, sponsored by Stamford Storage, was held at Eslaforde Park.

Fourteen teams took part and the day was only spoilt by some rain towards the end.

The winning team were Aubrey Bristow, Tony Stanley and David Bristow, who received their prizes from Eddie Knight.

Runners up were Mike Dunne, Ken Thompson and David Fisher.
