Good start for Town’s indoor bowlers

The first game of the new season for the Sleaford Indoor Bowls A Team, under a new Team Captain, Fred Collin, saw Long Sutton visit where C Bradley, P Annison, I Cliff and W Spencer won comfortably 30–25.

R Musson, J Scott, C Grosse and G Pask were ill at ease and managed just 4 ends, and the final scorecard showed 7–26.

Meanwhile T Bannister, K Callow, T Hudson and R Pointon got away to a sound 9-shot lead that they held on to win 22 – 19.

P Roberts, D Bristow, F Collin and A Bristow dropped only 3 ends and ran out easy winners 39–6, and B Millington, T Curran, L Davies and G Johnson had a close game but lost out 17–18.

Next up for the Over 60’s were the mighty Lincoln, and T Stanley, P Annison, K Dye and G Johnson took an early lead, lost it, and then stormed through to win 33–17.

M Wareham, J Baker, J Thomas and B Cooper were involved in a tight game but eventually lost 14 –19, while A Bristow, G Chamberlain, C Grosse and R Pearson kept an early lead to record a deserved 20–18 win.

D Chandley, R Workman, T Harding and B Sach were involved in a game where all looked lost at the 14th end where they were 7–18 down but they managed a storming come back and scored 15 without reply to win 22–18.

D Stobart, C Faria, P Bacon and L Davies showed similar determination where they came from behind to win 17–16.
