Good win for the over-60s side

SLEAFORD Indoor Bowls Club hosted Lincolnshire VPs in a friendly match.

It was a close game throughout the afternoon and ended with Sleaford taking a narrow victory, 111–103.

The win was set up by a 29-10 rink win by Ron Cooper, Steve Traynor, Larry Davies and Bob Patterson.

Captain for the day was Gillian Turner and lady president Betty Wilson presented gift pens to everyone.

Sleaford Over 60s hosted Stamford and recorded a good 98-85 victory, picking up 13 points to the visitors’ 5.

A Bristow with his set of T Stanley, G Chamberlaine and R Pearson were in total command, running out easy winners at 25–9.

D Stobart, L Davies, J Denny and P Annison made a slow start but came from behind to win 23–16.

D Chandley, R Workman, T Harding and R Barnes never quite found the line and length and went down 12–20.

R Bellamy, with P Lowder, B Gilbert and M Wareham were narrowly beaten in a tight game, 19–21, while C Bradley, J Scott, J Thomas and B Cooper were involved in another tight game where the scores were tied 19-19.

On the road at Stamford, Sleaford B team were beaten but most of the games were close and a single big score (a 5 or a 6) determined the outcome on all rinks.

T Ingham’s set of G Glover, C Grosse and L Davies lost by just one shot, 18–19.

C Rands, with R Workman, T Harding and B Ellison were unlucky to lose out 14–19.

T Curran, R Sach, J Thomas and M Summerhayes had the better of the game except for the one big score that went to their opponents and they lost 16–20.

S Elliott’s set of R Barnes, R Sivyer and D Fisher had a good first half but then dropped a couple of big scores to lost out 15–27.

J Bennett, J Baker, D Rogers and M Dunne came back from 6–14 to level at the 20th end, only to fall to a good wood that turned two up to four down making the final score 19–23.
