Hard work fails to bring rink reward

SLEAFORD Indoor Bowls Club B team hosted Louth A, who brought a very strong team.

Although Sleaford fought hard, the visitors won on every rink.

For Sleaford, T Curran, R Sach, J Thomas and A Wills took an early lead before the opposition pulled away mid game and they lost 12-24.

T Ingham’s set of T Causon, C Grosse and L Davies kept a much tighter grip in a close game and were unfortunate to lose out 12-19.

D Fisher, T Thackray, R Barnes and R Sivyer started well before dropping a five midway but kept pace with their opponents apart from that and were unlucky to go down 19-25.

J Bennett, with his set of R Cooper, D Rogers and M Dunne were well off the pace, never finding a good length against a strong set and were well beaten 8-31.

C Rands, with R Workman, T Harding and B Ellison found the opposition just too strong during the second half after keeping pace at the start and went down 13-28.

Sleaford Over 60s were beaten on their travels at Spalding.

The result was disappointing given the outcome of the home game between the two clubs.

A Bristow and his set of T Stanley, G Chamberlaine and R Pearson trailed 4-1 at the mid-point before making an effort to come back but still lost 15–22.

C Bradley, J Scott, J Thomas and B Cooper took an early lead but failed to capitalise and dropped shots heavily, going down 11–29.

R Bellamy, L. Davies, B Gilbert and M Wareham lost 11–33, and there were defeats too for D Chandley, R Barnes, T Harding and G Johnston (8–26) and

D Stobart, with P Annison, J Baker and J Denny (9–31).
