Indoor bowls club pull off a double after Lincoln win

Sleaford Indoor Bowls Club

The Friendly Team hosted the mighty Lincoln and pulled off the double with a magnificent 124–90 victory.

Nigel Moxon’s set of Helen Quirke, Alan Clark and Bob McKie stormed into the lead before the opponents found the line and length, but held out bravely to win 20–16.

Mike Summerhayes, with Bob Croyman, Irene Ansell and Les Richardson ran out winners 27–15.

Charlie Rands, with Pat Rands, Ken Searle and Ross Harwood were in a game of three halves. After Lincoln established a 7-shot lead, the remaining ends saw the home side pile on 19 shots without reply to win the Best Rink.

Steve Traynor with Pat Southern, Nancy Ahmad and Elaine Traynor were in a very tight game where a dropped four shots made the difference and lost out 10–14.

Lily Searle, Ann Jennings. Neil Dallas and Yvonne Paul were up against a strong side and went behind at the 14th only to score 18 shots with just two in reply, to run out winners at 24–13.

Bill Ellison, with Audrey Ellison, Martin Jennings and Alan Horne were in the closest game of all but just lost out on the last end 16–17.

Meanwhile, the Over 60’s had been to Horncastle and managed a good win 109–84.

A. Bristow’s set of G. Chamberlain, K. Dye and R. Pearson ran out easy winners at 24–11.

T. Stanley, with P. Annison, D. Hocking and B. Coyne were up against a strong side but kept in touch until the last six ends during which they dropped 12 without managing a reply and lost out 11–25.

D. Stobart, with R. Barnes, P. Bacon and L. Davies were well in command until the last part where they dropped eight shots, but still ran out winners at 24–16.

D. Chandley’s set of R. Workman, T. Harding and B. Sach stormed to an 11–0 start, dropped a seven and a five and then came back strongly to take the rink 26–21.

M. Wareham’s set of P. Lowder, C. Grosse and J. Thomas were in command and ran out winners 24–11.
