Caythorpe v Barkston

CAYTHORPE came through against local rivals Barkston in the McKinnells Lincoln Youth league with a 6 wicket victory.

Batting first Barkston found themselves in early trouble as Callum Hutton and Harry Brewin (2 for 9) pegged them back. Only Nishanth Shyan (12) showed any resistance as Tom Mawer (4 for 9) ran through the middle and late order, supported by Will Rich (2 for 8) and some excellent fielding.

With Caythorpe chasing 50 for victory, Sam Baker (3 for 5) gave Barkston a terrific start and had Caythorpe in some trouble at 12 for 3. but Matt Law (24 not out) steadied the ship and guided his team to victory.

Caythorpe v Welby

A YOUNG Caythorpe side romped to victory against a newly formed Welby side with a comprehensive 6 wicket victory that saw them leapfrog their visitors in the table.

Welby electing to bat first but tight Caythorpe bowling stemmed the flow of runs, with Callum Hutton taking 2 for 9.

Luke Mussert (14) and Dan Wilson (24) threatened to cut loose but occasional bowler Harry Glenn (2 for 1) and Alex Dempster (4 for 15) kept the Welby innings in check.

Welby finished on 74 for 8 off their 18 overs and, in reply, Glenn (11) and Dempster (12) gave Caythorpe a blistering start before Wilson (2 for 18) sent them both back to the pavilion.

But the momentum of the innings was maintained by under-13 county player Harry Brewin, who hit an unbeaten 30, stroking the ball to all parts of the pitch, as Caythorpe reached their target with six wickets intact.
