COUNTY CRICKET ROUND-UP: South Lincs and Border Leagues

Boston and Sleaford Seconds both picked up 20 points in the South Lincolnshire & Border League to stay top and second respectively.

Boston beat third-placed Bourne while Sleaford scored a six-wicket win over Long Sutton, who are now hovering just above the relegation zone.

Ryan Croom hit the division’s highest individual score with 85 for Boston while three bowlers recorded five wicket hauls - Steve Elleray for Boston, Matt Benson of Lindum Ramblers who beat Moulton Harrox and Sam Barrett in Stamford Town’s victory over Billingborough.

In contrast, four centuries were scored in Division One where David Curran was the top bowler, taking six for 22 for Welby to keep his side above the relegation zone.

Richard Witt made an unbeaten 143 and John McDougall 100 for leaders Market Deeping, who piled on 332 runs against Long Sutton 2nd.

And in a much closer game, Will Charlesworth hit 102 and Ian Glendinning was 128 not out as Heckington notched up 265 for two against Billingborough Seconds, who hit back with 237 for nine, Mike Stanley with 91.

Boston Seconds stay in second place after their second 10-wicket win in succession, this time over Skegness Seconds.

But just two points behind and with a game in hand are Freiston LL, following their three-wicket win over Cavaliers.

In Division Two, Simon Behan hit 126 not out for Timberland, taking his side to a victory over Boston Thirds that moved them to the top of the table, just one point ahead of Baston who beat Pinchbeck.

Claypole kept up their challenge with victory over Spalding Thirds while Grantham Fourths enjoyed a good win over Graves Park.
