Records go as holders reach final

Invitational Cup

BILLINGBOROUGH openers Geordie Scott and Warren Nel sent the record books crashing in the Sleaford Invitational Cup (formerly the Pattinson Cup) semi final against Caythorpe.

Scott and Nel put together a huge unbeaten opening partnership of 204 off the allotted 16 overs, with Nel scoring 101 not out off 54 balls and Geordie Scott hitting 95 not out off 45 balls.

It gave Caythorpe an impossible mountain to climb and only Chris Morris, smashing an impressive 79 before being caught in the deep off the bowling of Caleb Brookland, gave any real resistance.

Brookland finished with figures of 4-14 as Billingborough booked their place in the final for the eighth consecutive year.

The final will be played tonight (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) at Sleaford Cricket Club.
