Sleaford cruise to victory

Sleaford CC saw them romp to a 10-wicket win in the South Lincs and Border League Premier but slump to a 92-run defeat in the ECB Premier League.

The victory came at Belton Park after Sleaford won the tosss and inserted their hosts into bat.

They made good use of the helpful conditions with every bowler contributing as Park were skittled for 95, Giles Goddard claiming three victims.

Sleaford’s reply was in conditions that were still bowler-friendly but Simon Godby and Ben Burrows produced an excellent unbeaten opening partnership to see their side home.

The ECB Premier League game saw Sleaford hosting league champions Bracebridge Heath, who posted a useful 236-8. It was a disappointing response from the home side with their only innings of note coming from Thomas Shorthouse, who made 82.

His team mates struggled as Sleaford could only muster 144. Match ball sponsors were John and Audrey Haslam.

On Saturday, the First XI, sponsored by Reg Baker Plant Hire, entertain Grimsby, whilst in the South Lincs Premier, Sleaford, sponsored by Darren Wilson, travel to Market Deeping.

l Sleaford Academy enjoyed a seven-wicket win at home to Woodhall, who posted 163-9. Mason Mansfield claimed five wickets.

The Academy made short work of this target, losing only 3 wickets as they were steered home by in-form Ollie Bean who hit 75.

This Sunday sees The Academy, sponsored by Turnbulls, entertain Old Lincolnians, with spectators welcome and no cost for admission.
