Under-21s book final place
Sleaford Invitational Cup
SLEAFORD’S Under-21 side have booked their place in the final of the Four Seasons sponsored Invitational Cup – formerly the Pattinson Cup.
Their semi-final against Welby had been delayed due to rain but when the game was finally played at Sleaford Cricket Club’s London Road ground, the under-21 side, plus guest players, put in a commanding performance.
Welby batted first and a second wicket stand of 80 between Young and Lawson was the highlight of their innings. Young went on to make 51 and Lawson 38 as Welby made 131 for 8 in their allotted 18 overs.
Man of the match Tom Shorthouse was Sleaford’s most successful bowler, taking three wickets for 31 runs before hitting an unbeaten 80 to help Sleaford to 135 for one and a nine wicket victory.
Sleaford Under-21s will now face Billingborough in the final, which will be played over two evenings – tonight (Wednesday) and tomorrow at London Road.
