First division title race hotting up
South Lincolnshire and Border League BILLINGBOROUGH maintained their lead at the top of South Lincolnshire and Border League Division One with a 41-run win over Grantham, while Sleaford 2nd and Lindum Ramblers kept up their challenge for honours by beating Long Sutton and Spalding respectively.
Billingborough posted a moderate score of 141 but came out on top by bowling out Grantham for 100.
Endley, with five wickets for 33 runs, and Brewster, with an undefeated knock of 72, were the stars for Sleaford 2nd as they bowled out Long Sutton for 94 and then knocked off the required runs for the loss of only three wickets.
But it was the mid-table game between Market Deeping 2nd and Belton Park that produced the highest scoring fixture of the day, Deeping reaching 250 for six, a total Belton overtook for the loss of five wickets.
Boston 2nd's Liam Aggett scored the division's only century in a tight game at Bourne 2nd that saw the home side fall 14 short of their opponents' total of 210.
There was another century for a Boston team in Division Two where Dave Gilding hit an unbeaten 103 of the 3rd XI's score of 197 for four against Skegness 2nd. John Morris then took five Skegness wickets to help bowl the seasiders out for 143.
Ropsley improved their chances of survival with a victory over Thomas Cook while Cavaliers beat Heckington to move into fourth, just two behind their fellow Peterborough side.
And Stamford marched on at the top after beating Welby, who slip to fifth.
In Division Three, Spalding 3rd scored the shock result of the day, beating leaders Stamford 2nd by four wickets, then on Sunday went on to claim another four wicket win over Moulton Harrox Sunday.
Blankney came out the victors against Long Sutton 2nd to move above their opponents into second but North Luffenham and Baston, in fourth and fifth, both have games in hand and are in a good position to attack the top three teams following their wins over Grantham 2nd and Timberland respectively.
