Carre’s hosts football festival

THE February half term will be given extra kicks through a football festival.

Working together, Carre’s Grammar School, Lincolnshire Children’s Services, and the NK Community Safety Partnership have put together a three-day football programme to give young people something to do during half term.

It will be taking place at Carre’s Grammar School in Sleaford and will run from 1pm to 4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, February 14 to 16. It will be following a World Cup theme.

You don’t have to have a ready-made team, as the event is open to individuals or groups of friends.

There will be several trophies up for grabs, including a Fairplay Award.

Community Safety Partnership chairman, Coun Mike Gallagher, said: “The school holidays can be a time of boredom for teenagers, which is why we work so hard in arranging these positive activities.

“Based on previous years’ successes I know that this will be a welcome distraction in preventing boredom and developing skills and friendships.”

Young people can also participate in the Friday Night Football programme which takes place every Friday between 7pm and 9pm for only £1 per night.

Both programmes make use of the community sports facilities at Carre’s, including the school’s 3G pitch.

To enter the half-term festival download the registration form from www.carres.lincs.sch.uk/football and return it with a one off registration fee of £5.
