Dean is hat-trick hero

Sleaford Town Boys Under-13s 6

Nettleham Under-13s 2

TOWN Under-13s opened their second game of the season with another very positive start, working the ball well and pressing hard with testing through balls by David Walkington and Roland Nye.

Although Nettleham’s defence cancelled out attacks by Ethan Wright and Owen Park, Kieran McGuire opened up the scoring after 12 minutes from a fine cross from Nye.

On the counter, Nettleham also pressed hard and they found a way through to level the score just minutes before half time.

During the second half, James Hebden and Dan Gee stood firm in Sleaford’s defence and Jack Broughton and Wright worked hard to hold the ball in midfield.

Harry Dean, moving from central defence to a centre forward position, combined well with Park and both players showed strong determination, maintaining the pressure on the Nettleham defence.

Dean repeatedly broke through and he went on to score the season’s first hat-trick.

Nettleham again found a gap in Sleaford’s defence to pull one back, but further goals from Walkington and James Whitaker, the latter a sublime lob from 25 yards out, secured the game.

Town’s man of the match: Lewis Brockington, who made a number of key saves to keep Sleaford ahead.

Sleaford Town U13: Lewis Brockington, Elliot Hoy, Daniel Monteiro, James Whitaker, Harry Dean, Owen Park, David Walkington, Zac Willmont, Roland Nye, Ethan Wright (capt), Kieran McGuire. Subs (all used): James Hebden, Daniel Gee, Jack Broughton.
