Sleaford Town delivered the performance their fans have been waiting for on Saturday, winning 5-0.
With fellow strugglers Harborough Town the visitors to Eslaforde Park, it was important for Sleaford to record a good result, and they didn’t disappoint.
After just 11 minutes, Town took the lead through Ryan Parnell, who neatly beat the keeper after being put through by Scott Coupland.
Harborough rarely threatened and Town added a second through Coupland shortly before half time. He fired home after a shot from Parnell had been cleared off the line. Liam Tunstall had earlier struck the bar.
Town continued to press after the break and were rewarded with two goals in six minutes through Euan Clarke. Parnell set up Clarke for his first goal on 61 minutes and he made it 4-0 with his second in the 67th minute to ensure victory for a bouyant Sleaford side. Coupland than added his second 13 minutes from time to make the final scoreline 5-0.
This result, only their second win in six league outings, saw Town move up a couple of places in the United Counties League Premier Division table.
They are now 15th.
Club chairman Brian Rowland said: “It was a good all round performance from the side and a result that has been coming for some time.
“The side has been playing well without getting the breaks but, this time, it all fell into place. In fairness Harborough are not the strongest side but it was still a good result and should give the players some confidence.”
