Sleaford Utd 4 Ancaster Rams 2
SLEAFORD United were in league action at home against Ancaster Rams who they had previously met four weeks ago.
Play was fairly even from the start with both teams having attempts at goal and Sleaford keeper Jonny Hotson pulled off a couple of impressive fingertip saves.
The deadlock was broken in the 20th minute when Chris Porter picked up the ball and fed it through to Rory Green who found Craig Barlow for him to strike the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
Sleaford continued to pressurize the opposition and had a few near misses. In the 37th minute good link up play by Barlow and Gaz Tomlinson onto Jack Maddison allowed him to cross the ball into the box where Ben Padley headed it onto Green, who scored at close range.
A minute later Tom Hewitt crossed the ball into the box and Green struck home again to take the score to 3-0.
Sleaford kept the upper hand for the remainder of the first half with more tries at goal.
Four minutes into the second half and Ancaster hit the post, and then had a shot go wide. Sleaford continued to attack and had a couple of near misses from Hewitt and Porter. In the 70th minute Gaz Tomlinson was replaced by Adam Corney.
Sleaford again went close with Padley going just wide and Hewitt hitting the crossbar, but then started to ease off the attack which allowed Ancaster to get a goal back.
Maddison then hit the crossbar and another attempt by Ancaster forced a good save from Hotson. Two minutes from time Ancaster pulled another goal back, but a free kick from Porter in the final moments met Green, who got the ball through to Padley who put it away to make the final score 4-2.
