Sleaford Town Reserves 4 - 0 Cleethorpes AKP
Sleaford Town Reserves continued their good run of form with a very impressive 4-0 home victory against Cleethorpes Town Reserves.
The home side started slowly and it took two goalline clearances to get them going. The main turning point of the game was Cleethorpes’ Mickey Steer being sent off for head butting Shaun Popple. Just before half time good attacking play between Holland and Popple ended with Popple squeezing the ball through the legs of the keeper to make it 1-0 at half time.
The second half was all one-sided, with Sleaford taking advantage of the extra man. Ten minutes into the half McNamara went through one on one with the visiting keeper making a good save, only for the rebound to fall back to the Liverpudlian midfielder to coolly slot the ball home to make it 2-0.
With 15 minutes left, captain Kemp played a sublime pass through to Holland who calmly finished to make it 3-0. Sidney then decided to have an ambitious attempt at goal from 30 yards - the less said about that the better. Three minutes later Holland got his second of the game too after more good football from the hosts to end 4-0.
Man of the match - Shaun Popple.
Saturday’s fixture is at home to league champions Skegness Town, 2pm.
