Lindley hat-trick seals a good win

Pointon Under-13s 5

Woodhall Under-13s 1

Fresh from an opening day victory against Horncastle, Pointon came up against stiff opposition in the shape of Woodhall, who enjoyed the best of the opening exchanges only to be stunned after five minutes by a fortunate Pointon goal.

Alex Nelms’ speculative shot-cum-cross deceived the visiting keeper to give the home side a massive confidence boost which shaped the rest of the game.

Pointon withstood a barrage of Woodhall pressure but the home defence and keeper Jed Humphries in particular was in fine form.

Pointon extended their lead after 10 minutes when new boy Connor Lindley broke free on the half way line before firing a superb second goal.

The visitors were then awarded a penalty, which was duly converted.

The second half signalled another period of Woodhall pressure but again it was Pointon who scored first, Lindley firing in a superb shot from the edge of the box. Pointon were now in total control and a long ball from the busy Jamie Cross found Lindley who cracked in a great shot to seal a superb hat-trick.

Pointon U13: Jed Humphries, Dean Jackman, Ben Halifax, Alex Nelms, Ben Shilling, George Beech, Connor Lindley, Ed Brady, Max Graham, Callum Boyfield, Jamie Cross. Sub: Connor Nelms
