New programme gives you the opportunity to train as a football coach

A NEW programme to train volunteers in coaching skills to start their own football teams starts this month.

These sessions are being run by North Kesteven District Council’s Childrens’ Services team in association with Carre’s Grammar School Friday Night Football programme and will enable youngsters to become qualified sports coaches.

The aim is to train around 18 volunteer coaches, aged between 13 and 16, to then build up their own local teams of young people for casual games.

The teenagers who take part will be trained to FA Level 1 in football coaching, work on a rota to run weekly sessions from July to October and receive certificates in first aid and safeguarding.

Each group of coaches will receive a kit bag to deliver their village session and will be encouraged to play informally or competitively.

The scheme is initially being run in and around Heckington, Metheringham and Billinghay.

For details and registration before the initial training session on June 30, contact Jade Warren, North Kesteven’s children’s services officer, by email at Jade_Warren@n-kesteven.gov.uk or by calling 01529 414155. Alternatively email Matthew.evans@carres.lincs.sch.uk
