The Over 60’s team, under the new leadership of Larry Davies, played host to rivals Long Sutton and emerged with a good opening win 104 to 86 shots and 12 league points in the bag in County League 2.

R. Pointon’s set of K. Whiteside, S. Traynor and R. Workman set off apace, but faltered in the later stages to lose 17 -20.

C. Bradley, with C. Faria, T. Curran and T. Thackray started strongly being eight shots ahead after just four ends and had a strong later section, scoring 11 without reply, to run out creditable winners at 26 –-20: the result of good line and length and concentration.

A. Bristow’s set of D. Woods, L. Davies and R. Pearson were in scorching form with a 16- 0 lead after seven ends and then conceding just five singles to run out a magnificent 38 -5 win.

D. Stobart with his set of K. Dye, P. Bacon and J. Thomas, on the other hand, struggled to find either line or length against a team determined to prevail and went down a disappointing 10-22.

M. Wareham’s set of P. Annison, N. Dallas and F. Collin just could not find the close woods in a tight game and fell to a 13-19 loss.
