Rushen wins tie with strike in extra time

Nettleham Under 12s 4

Sleaford Under 12s 5

(after extra time)

Although Sleaford Under 12s have made a slow start to the season after winning the B League last year and moving up, they came good with this battling cup win away at Nettleham.

Sleaford led 3-2 at half time, thanks to an opening strike from Taryn Robinson and a brace from Patrick Campling.

The game continued to be tight in the second half, with Ben Rushen adding a fourth for Sleaford to take the game into extra time, the scores locked at 4-4.

Sleaford’s new keeper Joe Fletcher, making his debut, pulled off some fine saves to keep his side in the tie.

But Sleaford just had the edge and, in extra time, Rushen took them into the next round with his second goal of the game.
