United on second half goal spree

UNITED went close in the early exchanges of this cup tie, with a Rory Green shot shaving the outside of the post and the same player striking the bar moments later.

Sleaford took the lead in the 21st minute when Jamie McCormack netted with a neat half volley. Four minutes later, Craig Barlow scored from an almost impossible angle to make it 2-0.

The second half started with Sleaford continuing to dominate. Hewitt was denied by hit the bar but, a couple of minutes later, a clever back heel from Green set up McCormack for his second to put United 3-0 ahead.

In the 67th minute Hewitt added a fourth with a good strike from the edge before he and Kyle Creppy were replaced by Andy Welford and Ben Padley.

A goalmouth scramble in the 68th minute saw Witham score an own goal, then four minutes later they pulled one back with a strike from distance.

Sleaford responded within minutes when another goalmouth scramble was capitalised on by Ben Padley who scored from inside the six-yard box. After 85 minutes, Barlow was replaced by Alex Vamplew.

Padley scored another from close range in the 82nd minute before Green got himself on the score sheet two minutes later to make it 8-1.

A precise cross from Vamplew into the box found Green who scored his second with a good header and he completed his hat-trick within four minutes period when he struck a superb volley over the Witham keeper to end the game 10-1.
