Busy season for Blankney Ladies

THE Blankney Ladies recently took part in the Charity Cup, which had to be rearranged due to bad weather.

June Mullen took the first prize with a score of 90-22=68, in second place was Caroline Mattock 84-14=70, June Harvey in third 83-13=70 and Jules Palmer fourth, 81-10=71.

The Action Research competition was won by Doreen Wells with 33pts, June Mullen in second with 31pts, third place was Beryl Pring on 31 pts and in fourth was Margaret White, 31 pts.

The Daily Mail Foursomes competition, in which the winners go forward to represent Blankney in a knockout competition next year, was won by mother and daughter Yvonne and Rachel Woodcock with 70.5, narrowly beating Joan Payling and Sheena Jamieson with 71.5.

The Margaret Bell Cup was won by Jules Palmer on 36pts, second was Rachel Woodcock with 35pts on a count back from Margaret Davies, also 35pts and in fourth was Rikki Czajkowski with 34 pts on a count back from Caroline Mattock, also 34 pts.

In the August Stableford, Noreen Walker was the winner with 37pts, Karen Cox in second with 36pts, third was Sarah Love on 36pts and in fourth Caroline Mattock on 35 pts.

In the August Medal and Golf Foundation Brooch, in first place was Mary Neale on 97-26=71, second Kathie Craigs with 98-25=73, in third was Monica Carty with 103-30=73 and fourth was Sue Battle on 96-22=74.

The juniors have been out and about in the county with Rhiannon Davies having a remarkable season. Rhiannon came second in the Woodroffe Walter 36 hole competition at Belton Park to win her place in the knockout stage, which will be held at Carholme Golf Club.

She came third in the Junior Open held at Blankney with 89-13=76 and has dropped her handicap from 20 to 13 this season.
