Club battles the elements to complete their competitions

Blankney Golf Club

THE ladies of Blankney Golf Club have played many competitions over the last month and most in very poor conditions.

A Diamond Jubilee stableford saw Rikki Czajowski take the honours with a good score of 41 points, three points clear of runner-up Mandy Horne on 38 pts, with Rachel Woodcock third on 36. Also on 36 points were Yvonne Woodcock and Karen Cox, in fourth and fifth places respectively.

The June Stableford was won by Jane Grieves on 38. Sarah Love, with 35 points, finished second, Pat Mundy was third and Joan Bows fourth, also on 35 points.

June Medal winner was in-form Rikki Czajowski with a net 71 off a 16 handicap. Sarah Love was second with a net score of 71 (85-14), Flick Felton third on 74 (87-13) and Elizabeth Mackay fourth, also on 74 (94-20).

The Renee Pearson Rose Bowl was won by Caroline Mattock, who finished on net 70 (85-15). She beat Rikki Czajowski, also on 70 (86-16), on count-back. Third place went to Mandy Horne, 71 (80-9).

The Limit Cup, for players with handicaps of 21 to 36, was won by Clare Fidler with 35 points. Second in her first major competition was Gail Brown with 34, while Anthea Ashmore came third on 28 and Liz Salmon fourth, also on 28.

Eileen Dowling was the winner of the June Par competition on +1. Rikki Czajowski (level) was second, Jules Palmer (-1) third and Beryl Pring (-1) fourth.

The Centenary Cup was played in very blustery conditions, yet the players produced some good scores. Maggie Muir lifted the trophy with a great net score of 69 (82-13). She finished three shots ahead of runner-up Carol Blakey on 72 (93-21), with Jules Palmer third on 72 (83-11) and Karen Cox fourth on 74 (89-15).
