Downing in unbeatable form

South Kyme Golf Club

IN the September medal events, Jackie Downing proved to be unbeatable, winning the Sunday Medal with a net score of 72 and the Tuesday Medal with a net 74.

Joy Butler and Nikita Walley held off challengers for second and third places - Joy taking second place in the Sunday Medal with net 73 and Nikita taking third place, also with a net 73, while in the Tuesday Medal Nikita was second and Joy third.

n The annual Ladies’ Charity Open Day took place on September 11 and the competition was played as a Stableford better ball.

There were 12 place prizes, as well as nearest the pin on all four par three holes, nearest the line on two of the longer holes, a best front nine score, best back nine score and a two’s competition.

The overall winners with 46 points were Elizabeth Martin and Ann Watson of Southwell. In second place were Jean Parkinson and Ann Leggate of Woodhall Spa with 41.

Zena Moor and Wendy Dolby of South Kyme came third on 40. Also on 40 points were fourth placed Gemma Leak and Ann Jarvis of Woodthorpe Hall, Carole Gaunt and Jackie Downing of South Kyme in fifth and Pat Hawcroft and Pat Haines of Belton Woods, who finished sixth.

Front nine winners were Heather Dopierala and Margaret Preston of South Kyme, with 22 points, and back nine winners were Chris Gill and Barbara Pell of Kirton, with 21.

Almost £400 was raised for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
