Green’s glory in stableford

SUDBROOK Moor seniors played in conjunction with the main club in the monthly stableford and featured in the overall prize list as some of the better scorecards returned.

Overall senior winner was 18-handicap Maurice Green with an excellent 39 points. Twenty-two-handicap Bryan Heydinger won the best of Category 4 on 38 points, while John Johnson’s score of 37 was runner-up in Category 2-3.

Newcomer to the qualifying competition scene, Andy McDowall returned a first scorecard of 37 points. There were no twos sweep winners.

l In the January mixed monthly Texan scramble for seniors, Geoff Raynor brought in a winning team with John Chambers and Val Howseman.

Pete Farmer, Ken Jameson and Ron Selby were runners-up, separated by 0.1 of a shot.

Graham Mackinder, with his two lady partners Alison Reid and Di Smith, was pipped by a shot into third spot.
