Sun shines on ladies for annual open event

BLANKNEY Golf Club hosted their annual open day, with a great field of ladies from many different clubs around the county.

The sun shone and some great scores 1st from Kenwick Park Bridget Hardaway and Sue Letby 39 pts from Rachael Normanton and Billie Major from Trent Lock also with 39 pts back nine 19, and third Gill Grant and Helen Woolley from Greetham Valley with 39 pts back nine 18.

In fourth was Meg Tasker and Carole Westcott Rutland County 39pts back nine 17 and 5th Angela Ward Blankney and June Gauke Lincoln 38 pts.

The Branston Cup was won by Vice Captain Rikki Czajkowski, 36 pts, with second Caroline Mattock, 35pts, third with also 35 pts after count back Mandy Horne, and fourth Sarah Love 35pts.

May Stableford was won by Sarah Love, 35pts, second Mandy Horne, 33pts, third Carol Blakey 32 pts and 4th Rikki Czajkowski 31 pts.

May Medal 1st Flick Felton 83-13=70 2nd Carol Almond 92-20=72, third Rikki Czajkowski 89-16=73, fourth Sarah Love 87-14=73.

Wilson Cup was won by Mandy Horne 37 pts, 2nd Barbara Chard 36 pts, third Lynne Fraser, 35 pts and fourth Rachel Woodcock, 33 pts.

The Ping Competition 1st Rikki Czajkowski and Corinne Cole 41 pts, second Flick Felton and Maggie Muir 36 pts and third Caroline Mattock and Carol Bell 35 pts.

Jess Wilcox went to the English Womens Close Championship at Birkdale in Lancashire playing in very tough conditions, and put a brave effort to make it through the first two rounds

Cindy Ireland came second in the Midland Vets competition held at Belton Park on one of the hottest day this year with a 79-7=72.
