Kiesha gets county call-up

ELEVEN year old gymnast Kiesha Almond took on competitors two levels higher than herself at the recent county championships at Spalding.

But that did not deter Kiesha, a member of Sleaford Gymnastics Club, who finished second and will now go on the represent Lincolnshire in the regional finals in November.

Her club coach Sammi Emsley said: "The fact that she was up against people one and even two levels higher did not hold her back.

"Kiesha trained extremely hard in the build up for the event and managed to qualify, finishing in second position.

"She is a very dedicated and hard working gymnast who trains four times, sometimes five times, a week."

Kiesha is also competing in her first International event at Milton Keynes along with some of her team-mates from Sleaford Gymnastics Club at the Roses International Championships.

If you would like to help Kiesha continue her success in gymnastics and would like to sponsor her to help with her training and development, contact her coach Sammi on 07507116210.

Sammi added: "If anyone is interested in trying out gymnastics as a sport, we are open throughout the year, including holidays, and run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

"We also hold a session on a Tuesday evening which is a free running class, not a structured session, which gives you the perfect opportunity to practice some tricks."

* Sleaford Gymnastics Club will be putting on a display at Ruskington Celebration Day on Saturday. You can see them at 3pm at the St George's Academy, Sleaford Road, Ruskington.
