Sleaford Barge Netball Club have had two impressive wins - in their league and in a county-wide tournament.

Sleaford Barge Netball Club have had two impressive wins - in their league and in a county-wide tournament.

First to play their match at Priory Witham Academy in Lincoln were table toppers Sleaford Barge Typhoons, competing in the under 16 Lincolnshire County Netball League.

Undefeated this season, they were up against Louth B team.

Sleaford won the match 112-2.

Louth B did not give up and gave their all throughout the match, with everyone in the sportshall cheering them on when they scored their two goals.

Later that morning at the same venue, Sleaford Barge’s under 11s team played in the High 5 Grand Prix against eight other teams from Lincolnshire. This was their third tournament of the season.

The girls’ first match was against previous winners Horncastle. This was a close-fought match with a final result of 4-3 to Sleaford Barge.

In the second match they faced Louth 1 and beat them 4 -2. Their next opponents were Washingborough 1 and they beat them a convincingly, 7-0.

Then they were up against Boston. This was their toughest game which was very physical, but Sleaford came out winners beating them 4-0.

The team then went on to win their last three matches 13-0 against Washingborough 2, 7-0 against Lincoln and finally 16-0 against Louth 2.

Claire Annall from the club said: “The girls and their parents were elated to come out winners of the tournament for the first time and were undefeated throughout.

“They are looking forward to their next Grand Prix in March.”

Interested in playing? Under 11 training takes place at St George’s Academy, Sleaford on Tuesday evenings 6–7.15pm.
