The annual Gents Versus Ladies event which follows the traditional Captain’s Drive-In had to be postponed to a later date due to the wind and rain.

* The ladies’ section at Sleaford held their first EWGA medal of the season. The event was won by the rapidly improving Val Flemming with a nett 63. Tracy Harrison took second place with a net 74.

In the first friendly match of the season, Greetham Valley defeated Sleaford 2.5 to 1.5 and in an away fixture at Spalding a mixed handicap team lost three matches to one, with Di Heyes and Val Power taking the only victory.

The preliminary round of the Peugeot Coronation Foursomes saw Sadie Marshall and Charlotte Robinson victorious. They must now wait to see if their score of 35 points is sufficient to qualify for the area finals.

In very difficult conditions, Joan Carpenter won the Bratley Cup, with Ann Lyon taking second place.

* The men’s Bratley Cup event attracted 99 entries and was won in fine style by Dave Sim with a net 67 off a handicap of 21.
