With strong winds and rain the day before as a consequence of Storm Abigail, it was with trepidation that runners from Sleaford Striders took part in races from Leeds to St Neots.
Thankfully the rain kept away but without a doubt the wind was to play a big part in the various outcomes.
Matt Lennard and Bill Rayner drove to St Neots for the half marathon event, a race that was surprisingly hilly with good support but, as expected, wind in the face where the runners were not protected by hedges or houses.
Matt finished the race in a great time of 1hr 41min 31sec, not too far from his personal best. Bill completed the course ahead of 629 other runners in 1.57.07.
Kevin Garrick, a fairly new member of Sleaford Striders, travelled to Skegness for the annual 10k event. Again strong winds were to be a characteristic of the day and he finished in a really good time of 40.20.
Finally, Alan Oliver travelled north to the Leeds Abbey Dash, another 10k event, and managed a magnificent time of 34.35. At the same location, Sleaford Striders youngster Lillee-Ann Thorpe took part in the junior event.
