A superb turnout by the Sleaford Striders junior and adult section for round two of the Lincolnshire Runner Cross Country League at Anton’s Gowt near Boston saw some impressive times completed on a cold, windy and muddy day.
As the race took place over an equestrian course, one of the highlights of the event was the run that the athletes undertook through a water jump, adding to the fun for the runners and the amusement of the spectators.
The under 11 races saw the best attendance from the Striders over a 1,420 metre course. In the girls’ race, Louise Hirst was first Strider home in 7mini 3sec, followed by Chloe Nuttall 7.28, Isabel Collier 7.32, Caven Shemuch 8.44 and Evie Baldwin 9.13. The boys’ race had Josh Doran as first Strider in 5.49, ahead of Max Aslin 6.07, Ben Bailey 6.44, Charlie Denton 6.54, Luke Sanders 7.37 and Riley A-Doughty 8.05.
As the ages rise, so do the distances to cover and the under 13 race was over 2,540 metres. In the girls’ event, Jennifer Dean completed the course in 11.38, followed by Ella-Louise Asbrey in 11.56. Harry Denton finished the boys’ race in 9.34.
