Sleaford Indoor Bowls Club’s remaining club bowlers involved in Lincolnshire County Finals endured mixed fortunes in the latter stages of this year’s competition.

The ladies’ team of Jackie Wareham, Joan Gilbert, Gillian Annison and Rhoda Wing played their re-arranged County Rinks match against the strong Spalding quartet of Rebecca Simpson, Ruby Hill, Chelsea Tomlin and Annie Dunham (all national bowlers) and they were just outplayed on the day.

Dave Chandley was unable to secure a place in the final of the Men’s Over-65s losing out to G. Lancaster from Horncastle 16-23 in his semi-final played at Spalding.

In the Ladies’ Singles County Finals, Kath Lake was given a bye to the quarter-finals when her opponent failed to arrive, and Gloria Davies beat clubmate Margaret McKie 21-9 to reach the quarter-finals. This paired Gloria against fellow Sleaford bowler Kath with the winner to go through to the semi-finals. Gloria won the match 21-12 and is our last representative in the County Finals.
