A few light showers and a blustery wind did not prevent some fine performances as 108 riders tackled the ninth edition of the annual Sleaford Wheelers Nev Crane Memorial 25-mile time trial on Sunday.

As expected Matt Bottrill, (www.drag2zero.com) visiting the event from Leicester for the fourth time, put in the fastest ride of the morning.

National champion Bottrill on previous visits has established event and course record times. On this occasion, he fell short of his winning time of last year by just 10 seconds as he came in with a near 30mph ride of 50min 3sec.

In all, 24 riders put in rides under the hour, among them the promoting club’s Richard Hamblin who retained the Nev Crane Memorial Trophy.

Other Sleaford Wheeler times: Andy Cole 1:03:48, David Smith 1:03:58, Michael Hespley 1:05:57, Paul Burrows 1:07:01, Rod Weston 1:07:38. Dave Pike 1:08:27, Ann Le Bek 1:08:56, Chris Close 1:09:21, Heather Riddell 1:09:57, Nigel Hurst 1:13:42, Gareth Wheelwright 1:14:55 and Linda Foster 1:23:56.
