Sleaford Golf Club’s A and B gents’ scratch teams have been in action against Blankney Golf Club.

The A team halved their match and the B team enjoyed an excellent 5-1 victory.

The annual away fixture at Stanton-on-the-Wolds Golf Club saw Sleaford’s team victorious.

Both the May Medal and Stableford attracted close to 100 entries and some fine scores were recorded.

The stableford was won by Paul Fryer with 39 points with Phil White pipping Jimmy Smith on countback for second place.

Mark Pinfold won the medal and a place in the Lombard qualifier with club pro Nigel Pearce at King’s Lynn.

Wayne Chessum won Division Two with an excellent nett 68.

In the ladies’ section, the EWGA Medal and May Brown Salver were played in wet and windy conditions.

Ann Lyon finished in first after beating Thelma Lee on countback after both recorded nett 78.

A mixed handicap team hosted a ladies’ team from Burghley Park.

Sleaford recorded a fine 3-2 victory.

The winning pairs were Sally Downie and Val Power, Celia Collinge and Madeline Fenemore and Kay Beeton and Jenny Rodger.

A team of Ann Lyon, Glenda Budd and Tracey Harrison, playing with new assistant professional James Beinlich, entered a Pro-Am at Ashby Decoy.

Although the team finished just outside the prizes, James was second in the professionals’ competition.

The seniors’ Greylees Trophy was won by Barry Inman with 42 points, with Hector Cole second (41) and David Swaithe third (40).

The Sleaford C team were beaten 4-2 by both Burghley Park and Boston teams.

Winning pairs were John Marriott and Graham Godbold and Stephen Moore and Roy Hunter and against Boston and John Marriott and Bob Ewan and Dave Burrows and Roy Hunter against Burghley.
