Sleaford and Spalding Under 18 girls’ rugby team returned to winning ways with a resounding 75-5 win at home to Olney.
The game started fairly evenly, with some handling errors on both sides, but pressure on the ball carrier soon had Olney on the back foot.
After good work from Georgia Markham, scrum half Emily Perrins found space to score under the posts with a darting run to open the scoring. Sarah Bill added the conversion. Olney struck back quickly with a try out wide but, from that moment, it was all Sleaford.
In a one-sided game, hat-tricks of tries were scored by Sarah Bill, who also kicked 10 conversions, and Jaz Clarke. But they were topped by Bethan Owen, who went over for four tries.
The easy victory had much to do with the performance of the forwards, who overcame a much larger Olney pack by demonstrating better technique in the tackle, ruck and maul.
Player of the match was Jaz Clarke.
