Sleaford Golf Club is nearing its goal of raising enough money to install a defibrillator on the course.
This was one of the main aims of Alan Thomas, who was elected club captain for the year 2014-2015, and who comes to the end of his tenure this month.
He said: “We are a traditional but forward-thinking members’ club which understands, and is responding to, the challenges faced by most golf clubs at the present time. We are therefore constantly making improvements to the course, the clubhouse and our visitor packages.
“Following my heart attack in 2013, I am only too well aware of the risk many golfers face of a cardiac arrest on the golf course.”
Fundraising towards the target figure to buy the defibrillator, to be installed at the clubhouse, is ongoing and included a captain’s race night on Friday, February 27.
The next fundraiser will be a captain’s night golf event on Friday.
