GOLF: South Kyme ladies enjoy busy week

This year’s annual South Kyme Golf Club ladies’ Cancer Spoon Stableford was won by Jane Barlow with 39 points.

Runner-up was Anne Clayton with 36 points, and in third place with 34 was Joan Huckfield.

The friendly match against Kirton Holme at South Kyme was a 4-0 win for the home side ladies.

The club championships were held in perfect weather conditions over two days. The overall gross winner was Sue Roberts with an aggregate net total of 178, with Jane Barlow seccond on 184 , and Anne Clayton on 191. Nett winner was Jane Barlow with an aggregate score of 146 net. Runner-up with 147 was Anne Clayton and Sue Duncan (150) was third.

The EWGA monthly medal was won by Anne Husthwaite. Second was Sue Roberts and in third was Elaine Sturton. The Alternative day medal was won by Sue Roberts with net 72, with Myra Le Sage (74) second on countback from Sue Duncan.

With a full field and superb weather conditions, this year’s Ladies’ Open Day was played for the first time as an Am-Am. The winners with an outstanding 99 points were Kate Davis, Sonia Nichol, Chris Marsh and Sue Blane from Millfield and Gainsborough Golf Clubs.

South Kyme ladies played a friendly game at Sleaford last week and triumphed 2½-1½.

The annual Lady Captain’s Fun Day was won by Sue Roberts, ahead of Sue Duncan and Jane Barlow.
