Golfer Sue helps raise charity cash

Sudbrook Moor’s Tuesday ladies supported the club’s nominated charity, Marie Cure Cancer Care, with their Festive Fun competition, raising funds with a hiden Santa raffle.

The annual Bird of the Year Trophy was played in conjunction with this, in a two club and a putter challenge.

Sue Chambers’ creditable 30-point card won her both the trophy and the leading prize money.

Previous winner Shirley Gardiner was runner-up on a countback on 29 points, with a 12 out and 17 back, from Fiona Hutton (16 and 13).

Last year’s title holder Amanda Roberts was fourth, followed by Norma Shelley, Liz Davies, Maureen Bradford, Eileen Plummer, Gladys Reynolds and Alison Reid, all of whom returned very respectable scores in cold and windy conditions.

l The club’s Thursday seniors have enjoyed recent Stableford and Medal competitions, with wins for Tony Sealey, Pete Armstrong and John Chambers.

Runners-up prizes were shared amongst the handicap divisions, with prizes going to Harry Peel, Bob Watson, Sue Watson, Ian Mason, David Leslie, John Johnson Maurice Green.

The twos sweep was shared by John Johnson, John Morley, John Costall, Steve Squires, Bryan Heydinger and Harry Cruickshank.
