Sleaford Gymnastics Club will celebrate 18 years since starting up with a special event for members past and present.
The club is laying on a celebration disco at the Legionnaires Club in Watergate, Sleaford, with those that no longer attend invited along too.
Three girls have just returned with medals from the regional championships last Saturday. Clara Dunbavin, Jasmin Brankin, both 12, and Ella Owen, 14, were all successful.
The club is also launching a fundraising appeal to help pay for a number of items of equipment that have just been purchased to complete a makeover at the gym.
Head coach Sammi Emsley said: “We have bought some new beam mats used in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and a landing area, plus a vault landing area and some chalk bowls for using the apparatus and other accessories. The girls are really excited about using equipment that was used by top gymnasts.”
They need to recoup £5,000 of the overall £7,000 cost of all the equipment.
The next project is to replace the sprung floor. Sammi said: “We have got the top covering done but the sprung part underneath will cost another £2,000-£3,000 to replace. We also need new asymmetric bars, so in total that is another £5,000 to raise. We have been looking into funding sources to recoup the money we have borrowed because we would have missed out on the chance to buy the equipment.”
A donation is on its way from Sleaford Round Table.
