Sleaford Gymnastics Club impressed in two recent championships.

Eleven members were among more than 140 gymnasts who took part in the Lincolnshire County Level Six Championships in Spalding and came home with medals – including golds.

The girls performed their routines on the vault, bars, beam and bench and Kennedy Shelley managed to complete two out of four disciplines with almost perfect scores, losing only a small fraction. Not only did Kennedy take the gold medal in her age group, she also walked away as the Overall Vault Champion, with silver on bars, silver on bench and, to top it all off, the Overall County Level Six Champion.

And if that wasn’t enough for Sleaford, Rebecca Fletcher was only a fraction behind her team-mate, walking away with the gold in her age group, silver overall on vault, sixth on bench and the overall silver medallist.

Also in the top six on apparatus, Gabby Greig, one of the club’s youngest gymnasts on the day, finished off in fifth overall on the vault and bars.

And another little one, Olivia Thorpe, took home the silver in her age group.

Other age group placings were Olivia Thorpe silver, Amy Patchett sixth, Samantha Bacon fifth and Poppy Purbrick eighth.

Others competing were Lucy Jenner, Isabelle Harvey, Isabelle Garratt and Shannon Caven.

Club coach Sammi Emsley said: “All of the gymnasts performed excellently and everyone at the club is so proud of them all.”
