Hockey club keen to recruit new blood

Sleaford Hockey Club is looking for new members of primary and secondary school age.

The club can provide sticks for those who don’t have them and it also has groups allocated to those who have never played before.

The club started their regular coaching sessions on Saturday. These are run by qualified coaches and aimed at improving skills and having fun safely.

Alongside this the club enters teams in the Lincolnshire Mini League at both Under 12 Under 14. Events are held once a month during the season.

The club is holding an open day on Saturday. Anyone interested in trying out hockey should go along at 11.30am to the all weather pitch behind Carre’s Grammar School.

Weekly sessions are open to children aged 8 to 16 and run on a Saturday on the all weather pitch at Carre’s or at RAF Cranwell. Detils: 01400 262482.

Billingborough 10K was a popular choice for Sleaford Town Runners members. The race saw Michael Baxter come in 1st place in 41.14, followed by Alistair Whitaker 56.12, Shannon Baxter 1.03.15 and Rachel Pledge 1.15.25.

Shaun Louth competed in the Blackpool Illuminations Half Marathon. A great race of 300 runners along the North Promenade, Shaun completed the race in 2hours and 28mins.
